Fort Lauderdale has more waterfront per square mile than almost anywhere we work, and that shapes the job. Houses on the canals, towers along the beach, and historic neighbourhoods inland where the buildings are older than the idea of central air. Salt reaches most of it.
The practical consequence is that outdoor coils here need attention on a schedule that has nothing to do with the manufacturer's suggested interval. A condenser two blocks from a canal collects salt from the air, holds it in the fin pack, and corrodes from the inside of the coil outward.
By the time it shows on the surface it has usually been leaking slowly for a season.

On the canals the air is wet before it reaches the house. A system that runs short cycles never pulls that moisture out, and the first place it shows is the duct: condensation on an uninsulated run, then a stain on the ceiling, then a smell nobody can place. That is a humidity problem wearing a duct problem's clothes.
In the towers along the beach the question changes to the shared condensate stack and the corridor air. Inland, in the older neighbourhoods, it is retrofit duct work in houses that were built before anyone planned for it.

Not water from inside. An uninsulated or poorly wrapped duct in a humid space sweats, and the drip lands on the ceiling. Wrapping it properly is the fix; cleaning it is not.
Run time. A system that cools the air quickly and shuts off never removes moisture. On the canals that is common, and the answer is usually correct sizing rather than a bigger unit.
Not more often, but more carefully. The humidity means anything that gets into a duct here stays damp, so we check the insulation and the return seal before considering a clean.
